Lakshya at NITIE hosts Industry Stalwarts

National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) Mumbai, the epitome of Industrial Engineering in India, hosted the 11th edition of Lakshya, the three day annual corporate cynosure, in its campus from 22rd to 24th October.

Lakshya is a unique endeavor of PGDIE students of NITIE which nurtures Industry-Industry-Institute (3Is) interaction to keep students updated with current requirements of the corporate world so as to prepare them to handle their future portfolios efficiently.


Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Ashokrao Chavan was the Chief Guest during the Inaugural Ceremony on 22
nd of October. Dr. S.D. Awale, Director, NITIE, presided over the ceremony. Every year the greatest stalwarts of the industry are honored with the “Lakshya Business Visionary awards”. This time, the awardees were Shri Subrata Roy, Chairman & Managing Worker, Sahara India Pariwar and Dr. F.C. Kohli, Former Deputy Chairman, Tata Consultancy Services. Under the aegis of Empresario, Shri Rana Kapoor, MD and CEO, Yes Bank were honored with the “Most Inspiring Entrepreneur of the Year award”. Shri Deep Kalra, MD and CEO, Makemytrip.com, was felicitated with the “Best
Start-up Entrepreneur of the Year award”.


On the occasion, Chief Minister congratulated NITIE for conducting this unique event and said that our “Lakshya” should be to perform best globally in all sectors which are affected by institutes, education, man power, infrastructure, facilities and thoughts. His Vision is to make Maharashtra global in all sectors and he wants support from the awardees, students and people from various sectors.


During the course of the three days of event, elite corporate contested in the On the Job Achiever’s Contest. It is a one of its kind event where industry honchos present their projects to eminent jury members comprising of senior executive experts from various areas in the industry. This event saw NITIE campus transform into a battlefield with industry hot-shots competing for the coveted Lakshya Best Project Award. The participants were companies like Hindustan Petroleum, Titan, Bharat Petroleum, Cadbury, Tata Motors, HV Transmissions Ltd, Marico, Johnson & Johnson Consumers and many others which competed in four modules of management, namely Supply Chain Management, General and HR Management, Systems and IT Management and Operations Management. The Jury comprised of Heads of various verticals of their respective companies like ICICI Bank, Fiat, TVS Motors, Pepsico, TCS, Tech Mahindra, HP, Intel, Stanton Chase, Infosys and many more. This year’s Best Project was awarded to HV transmissions Ltd for their project in the Supply chain module.


Prof. Ashok K. Pundir, the convener of the event said “Every year Lakshya unveils the parameters of change management taking place at all levels in the dynamic scenarios of the industry and brings the essence of the same on the forefronts of learning, widening its spectrum by inviting international participation, showing that this event has been reinventing itself over the years”. Corporate giants like SBI, Dell, Cinthol, Godrej, GATI, ONGC, Union Bank of India, Tata Consultancy Services, Cognizants, SIDBI, Stanton Chase and Aditya Birla Group were the major sponsors of the event.
