Possessing the second-largest customer base in India, IGGI Resorts has resorts in Ooty, Kodaikanal, Mahabalipuram and Vailankanni. The company has two products -- metro timeshare (MTS) and holiday timeshare (HTS).
Under MTS concept, furnished flats are to be constructed in urban centres, at over 50 locations in India, and sold on a time-share basis with an exchangability of weeks and places. An administration office with facilities like xerox, fax, STD, telex, computers etc, and a mini-super-market supplying essential items will also be accomodated in the complex. This project safeguards the traveller from the ever-escalating costs of hotels by providing those travelling to various towns and cities, the ambience and comforts of a home at a very reasonable and uniform price. In Mar.'95, the company came out with a public-cum-rights issue to part-finance the implementation of the MTS scheme.
IGGI has floated a separate company, IGGI Highway Motels, to set up a chain of motels along the national highways at intervals of 100 kilometres from each other, providing all requirements for the highway traveller. Individual joint-ventures are being set up in north, west and east India to promote holiday resorts in select locations. The establishment of IGGI North India Resorts and IGGI East India Resorts for this purpose are in the final stages.
During 1996-97, the company has made some extra features to the existing HTS (Holiday Timeshare) and MTS (Metro Timeshare) to make it innovative and to give more benefits and value to the purchaser of timeshare. The company also launched IGGI Metro Club in Ahmedabad and Coimbatore during the year.
