Promoted by Ramesh K Aggarwal, Rohit Aggarwal and the late K K Aggarwal, K R Foods was incorporated as a private limited company in Apr.'87. It became a public limited company in Dec.'92.
The company has a vanaspati ghee unit at Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, with an installed capacity of 9900 tpa. Though commercial production commenced in 1990, regular production could commence only in Oct.'91, after it received permanent registration from the Department of Industries. Its product is marketed under the Swad brand name.
In 1995-96, the company undertook a project to increase the installed capacity from 9900 tpa to 19,800 tpa; to manufacture vanaspati through distillation-cum-deacidification process as a backward integration and bottling of industrial oxygen gas. It came out with a public issue of 32 lac equity shares of Rs 10 each for cash at par aggregating Rs 320 lac, in Feb.'96, to part-finance the above expansion-cum-backward integration project.
