Incorporated in 1993 as Maxworth Orchards (Kodaikanal), the company name was changed to Maxworth Country in Feb.'95. The company was renamed again as Maxworth Country (India), the present name, in Oct.'95. It is a part of the Maxworth group promoted by R Subramaniam and his associates.
The company is in the process of acquiring land for the development of farm properties for horticulture and resort townships providing eco-tourism facilities to residents and tourists, to finance which, the company made a public issue in Dec.'95.
The project of acquiring land is being implemented in two phases, in and around Kodaikanal where the group has substantial presence in the form of hotels, resorts and orchards. Under phase-I, the land will be developed and sold as farm properties and under phase-II, a resort township will be set up. In the resort township project, villas of various sizes will be built and sold on an outright basis. In future, apart from providing property management services to the township, the company will encourage the owners of those villas to give them on rent to tourists and will manage the rental pool. The company is launching the product under Maxworth Estates brand name.
