Shri Ishar Agro (SIAL) was incorporated as a private limited company on 22 Nov.'91 and converted into a public limited company on 29 Oct.'92. The company was promoted by Sukhwant Singh, Gurcharan Singh and Om Prakash Khandelwal. R P Goyal is the chairman and Gurcharan Singh is the managing director. Other group companies are Shri Ishar Alloy Steels, Indore Wire Company and Indore Steel and Iron Mills.
The company came out with a public issue of 32.72 lac equity shares at par, aggregating Rs 3.27 cr, in Feb.'94, to part-finance its project to set up a 500-tpd solvent extraction plant and a 50-tpd oil refinery at a project cost of Rs 18.80 cr. SIAL is into the manufacture of soyabean oil and de-oiled cakes. Its products include de-oiled cakes, solvent/refined oil, soap/oil sludge. Its plant is located in Dewas, MP.
The company is diversifying into the manufacture of stainless steel bright brass and white button mushrooms. For the latter, an MoU has been signed with Dalsem-Veciap, Holland.
Under the company's modernisation-cum-expansion programme, the processing capacity of its plant has been increased from 500 tpd to 800 tpd. The company exports to Singapore, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Taiwan etc. In 1995-96, the earnings from exports touched Rs 26.94 cr.
