TTG Industries, a Madras-based company, offers engineering products and services to major industries like iron and steel, non-ferrous metals and minerals, chemicals and petrochemicals, energy, etc. The company's client list includes SAIL, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam, and TISCO, among others. It diversified into wind power generators in 1994, in collaboration with Husumer Schiffswerft, Germany. It has installed around 12 wind generators. In order to indigenise the wind power components, which are being imported, it has floated a separate company to manufacture gear blades.
TTG is also a successful operator in the area of high-pressure pumps and water jets in India, for which it has a collaboration with Wolfgang Maasberg and Company, Germany. The company also has collaborations for pneumatic conveying systems with Disab International, Sweden; for blast furnace equipment with Paul Wurth, Luxemburg and for gas handling, gas cleaning and process equipment for non-ferrous metallurgical plants, with Davy Mckee Corporation, US. To build coke oven batteries for steel plants, the company has tied up with RAG Systemtechnik, Germany, and Giprokoks, Russia.
In 1997-98, the company hived off its Coke Oven Project division. It has also confirmed orders for 17 MW wind electric generators and is also verge of finalising another 7 MW.
The reference made by the company under SICA, 1985 was rejected by the BIFR and was advised to file a fresh application with the audited financial results for the year 1999-2000 and accordingly the company is making a fresh application.
