Incorporated as a private limited company in May '86, Wilwayfort India was initially promoted by Debasis Mukherjee and Parna Mukherjee. It was subsequently taken over by I P S Walia and Ashok Ahluwalia in Mar.'89. The company became a public limited company in 1994.
Starting its operations by trading in PVC films in 1988, it moved into production of metallised plastic film in Mar.'90. At Noida, UP, it has facilites for manufacturing metallised plastic films, metallised BOPP films, etc, with a capacity of 1200 tpa.
In 1994, it diversified into manufacturing multilayered co-extruded plastic film, for which it acquired a unit from Rajasthan State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation (RIICO), at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. The unit was earlier with Alvino Polypack. It came out with a public issue in Mar.'95 to modernise its unit at Noida, UP; acquisition of the multilayer co-extruded plastic film unit from RIICO and expanding the same; and modernisaation of the acquired unit. Commercial production at the Bhiwadi plant commenced in Aug.'94.
The production of multilayer co-extruded film and coating activities at Bhiwadi factory remained closed due to financial crisis.
