AirAsia launches direct flights from Chennai to Bangkok, Thailand

The world’s best low cost airline service provider, AirAsia announced the launch of its first ever direct flights from Chennai to Bangkok, Thailand starting from 22 March 2012. Tickets go on sale from 9th February 2012 with a special all-inclusive, return fare of 6,666 INR.  Tickets must be booked online at www.airasia.com during 9-14 February 2012 for travel during 23 March-27 October 2012.


Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia commented, “India is still a very important market for us. We recognize that there is a very strong demand for travel between Bangkok, Thailand and many major cities in India. Today we are very glad to announce that low fares and direct flights will be available 5 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday) for travel between Chennai and Bangkok.”


Bangkok is a favorite destination for many people in India. Ranked as the second most popular destination for outbound Indian travelers, approximately 791,185 visited Thailand in 2010 and over 800,000 people in 2011. Apart from Bangkok’s attractive shopping malls and bustling night-life, other popular destinations that travelers from India continue to visit in Thailand include Pattaya, Phuket, and Chiang Mai.
