Alstom T&D India wins a 400 kV gas-insulated substation contract worth Rs 96 crore

Capital Market/ 11:37 , May 28, 2012

From MSETCL

Alstom T&D India has been awarded a contract worth Rs 96 crore from Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission (MSETCL), for the erection, testing and commissioning of a 400/220 kV Gas-insulated Substation in the Hinjewadi district of Pune, in Maharashtra state. The contract will also include associated civil work for the substation.

Hinjewadi is the emerging IT centre of Maharashtra and planned infrastructure development is increasing the demand for power. The GIS substation, having a transformation capacity of 7x167 MVA will help in meeting the energy demands of the area while eradicating land scarcity issues, as GIS technology allows the substation to be more compact. The GIS substations are highly reliable and help to reduce pollution. Alstom T&D India was the first company in the country to localise GIS technology up to 400 kV at its manufacturing facility in Padappai, (Chennai), in southern India.
