Tata Motors August sales up 32%
Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in August 2010 were 65,938 vehicles, a growth of 32% over 49,810 vehicles sold in August 2009. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for August 2010 were 60,781 nos., a 29% growth over 47,126 nos. sold in August last year. Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal are 315,445 nos., a growth of 43% over 220,978 nos. sold last year.
M&M August sales up 29%
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), a part of the US$7.1bn Mahindra Group, announced that its auto sales for August 2010 stood at 28903 units as against 22413 units during August 2009, an increase of 29%. The company’s domestic sales stand at 27275 units during August 2010, as against 21410 units during August 2009, an increase of 27%. Exports have grown by 62% during the same period. The domestic sales for the passenger UV range of products including the Bolero, Scorpio and Xylo stood at 12994 units during August 2010 up by 14% from 11443 units during August 2009. The 3-wheeler range of products domestic sales stood at 5074 units during August 2010 up by 39% from 3652 units during August 2009.
TVS Motor August two wheeler sales up 32%
In an impressive showing of monthly numbers, TVS Motor Company registered the highest ever sales figures in the month of August 2010. Total sales of the company stood at 170,735 units in August 2010 against 127,875 units in August 2009, a growth of 34%. Robust growth in all segments of the two and three wheeler market enabled the company to record maximum sales. Independently too, two wheelers and three wheeler sales were highest ever for TVS Motor Company.
Maruti Suzuki August sales up 23%
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, sold a total of 104,791 vehicles in August 2010, growing 23.6% in the month. This includes exports of 12,117 units. This is the highes ever monthly sales recorded by the company. The company had sold a total of 84,808 vehicles in August 2009.Maruti Suzuki’s volume in the domestic A2 segment grew by 25.7 % and in the A3 segment the sales volume grew by 34 % during the month as compared to sales in August 2009.
Mahindra two wheelers August sales skyrockets
Mahindra Two Wheelers, a part of the US$7.1bn Mahindra Group, has further consolidated its presence in the two wheeler segment, with record sales of 15,165 units in August 2010. Mahindra Two Wheelers announced that its sales for the month of August 2010 stood at 15165 units, as against 4005 units in August 2009, an increase of 279%. Total cumulative sales from April to August 2010 stood at 54261 units, as compared to 12948 units for the same period last year, an increase of 319%.
General Motors India August sales up 34%
General Motors India has registered an impressive growth of 34% in sales in August 2010, compared to the corresponding period last year. It sold 7941 units in August 2010 against 5939 units in August 2009. The August 2010 sales comprised 2481 units of the Chevrolet Spark, 2475 units of Chevrolet Beat, 1438 units of the Chevrolet Tavera, 724 units of the Chevrolet Cruze, 325 Units of Chevrolet Aveo, 240 units of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, 176 units of the Chevrolet Captiva and 82 units of Chevrolet Optra.
Ford August sales skyrockets
Ford India tripled sales in August. It sold 7,925 vehicles this month, a 220% increase compared to August 2009. The Ford Figo remains at the top of the sales charts with more than 34,000 bookings recorded in the 25 weeks since it was introduced. Ford has sold 54,676 vehicles in India so far this year, a 195% increase compared to January – August in 2009. As well as its domestic success, the Figo is also in demand overseas. Following the first shipment of India-built Figos to South Africa in May, the hot-selling compact car will be exported to 50 new markets including Mexico, North Africa and the Middle East from next year.
Hyundai Motor August domestic sales up 2%
Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter continued to be on a growth trajectory with the domestic sales growing by 17.2% over the same month last year.
HMIL’s total sales for August, 2010 stood at 50,636 units as against 49,521 units in August, 2009 registering a 2.3% cumulative growth over the same period last year. The domestic sales accounted for 28,601 units as against 24,401 units in August, 2009 while the exports declined by 12.3 % from 25,120 units in August, 2009 to 22,035 units in August, 2010.
Yamaha India August sales up 30%
After establishing a strong foothold in the premium segment bikes, India Yamaha Motors is set to script a new success story with the launch of its three commuter bikes - the SZ, SZ-X and YBR 125. Yamaha has registered a growth of 30% in sales during August 2010 as compared to the corresponding period last year.
It sold 30,450 units in August 2010 as against 23,466 units sold in August 2009. In domestic markets, the company sold 22,672 units in August 2010 as compared to 19,508 units in the same month last year. The export figures stood at 7,778 units in August 2010 while 3,958 units were exported in August 2009.
Steel Strips August sales up 55%
Steel Strips Wheels Ltd achieves HIGHEST ever Steel Wheel sales of 805881 nos in August 2010 Compared to August 2009 figure of 519812 nos. recording a growth of 55%. The Company have also achieved HIGHEST ever steel wheel PRODUCTION of 796418 nos in August 2010. Compared to August 2009 figure of 527612 nos. recording a growth is 51%.
SkodaAuto India’s August sales up by 24%
SkodaAuto India, a fully owned subsidiary of SkodaAuto a.s., Czech Republic and one of the most promising automobile companies in India, announced a sales growth of 24% for the month of August 2010 over July 2010. SkodaAuto India’s total sales for August 2010 stood at an impressive 1511 units. Skoda has registered impressive growth in this year riding on the success of Skoda Superb and New Skoda Laura.
