January-June passenger air traffic up 22% yoy
Passengers carried by the Indian domestic airlines from January to June 2010 were 257.10 lakhs as against 210.99 lakhs in the corresponding period last year, thereby registering a growth of 21.86%. The total domestic passengers carried by the Scheduled Airlines of India during April to June 2010 were 134.77 lakhs as against 118.53 lakhs in the first quarter of the year.
The total domestic passengers carried by the Scheduled Airlines of India in June were 45.04 lakhs versus 47.85 lakhs in May. Airlines had carried 41.88 lakhs passengers in April. June observed comparatively lower seat factor primarily due to end of vacations and onset of monsoon, the Civil Aviation Ministry said in a statement.
The overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines for June 2010 has been 1.7%. During June 2010, a total of 1617 passenger related complaints had been received by the scheduled domestic airlines. The number of complaints per 10,000 passengers carried for June 2010 has been 3.7 per 10,000 passengers carried.

RBI asks banks to frame policy to recast debt for airlines: report
The Reserve Bank of India has asked 13 of the country’s top banks to frame a common policy for restructuring debt at airlines sector, according to a report.
The report stated that the regulator has also censured banks for not following prudent norms before lending to airlines and putting themselves in a tight spot.
The move is likely to provide relief for the debt-laden companies and directly help the country’s three biggest carriers—Jet Airways (India) Ltd, Air India and Kingfisher Airlines Ltd have a combined debt of US$13.5 bn, says report.
GoAir records 84% load factor for June 2010
GoAir India’s smartest airline, has announced that it has registered an 84% load factor for the month of June 2010. During the last quarter (April 2010 – June 2010), GoAir has consistently registered average passenger loads in excess of 83%.
During the past year GoAir has been on a continuous growth phase. For the period of April 2009 -March 2010, GoAir flew 2.41 million passengers as against 0.95 million passengers during the same period in 2008-2009 thus achieving a 153 per cent growth rate in passenger traffic. Similarly for the Quarter ended 30th June, 2010 GoAir flew 787000+ passengers which was almost 52% higher than in the similar period last year.
The Least cancellation: GoAir also recorded a 0.57% average in cancellations that was substantially lower then the industry average of 2.37 per cent during June 2009 and May 2010. Thus for a customer of Go Air- the assurance of surety to fly and on time is all the more than any other airline.
GoAir, which had 2.8% market share in the beginning of the year 2009-10 now currently enjoys a market share of 5.9 per cent and connects 15 destinations in India.
Go air has unique model where it serves almost double the stations as compared to its fleet strength which is unlike its peers who have number of destinations being served less than its fleet strength.
