Bharat PetroResources Limited (BPRL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, advises that M/sT Anadarko Mocambique Area 1 Limitada, the Operator of exploration block in Rovuma Basin, Area 1, offshore Mozambique, has informed that the Lagosta-2 appraisal well encountered 237 net meters of natural gas pay in multiple zones. successfully appraising the previous Lagosta and Camarao discoveries. The Lagosta-2 appraisal well is located about 7 kilometres north of the Lagosta discovery and 8.5 kilometres south of the Camarao. The well was drilled to a total depth of approximately 4,335 meters in water depths of approximately 1467 meters.
The operator also informed that the excellent results continue to support the recoverable resource estimates of 15 to 30 plus Tcf of natural gas in the discovery area of the block. It will also provide additional information that will be incorporated into the models for optimal subsea development plans for the discovery area that comprises of the Windjammer, Barquentine and Lagosta complex. A second deepwater drillship, the Deepwater Millennium, has arrived in Mozambique to begin an accelerated testing program that will include installing observation gauges and conducting several drillstem tests. This would keep the partnership on track for a final investment decision in 2013.
The partnership plans to preserve the Lagosta-2 for future utilisation during its planned drillstein testing program in the complex Once operations are complete on Lagosta-2, the Belfbrd Dolphin deep\vater drillship will be mobilised to drill the Lagosta-3 appraisal well.
The consortium members in. the block are Anadarko Mocambique Area 1 Limitada (36,5% PI), BPRL Ventures Mozambique B.V (10% PI)5 a wholly owned overseas subsidiary of BPRL, Videocon Mozambique Rovuma 1 Limited (10 % PI)j Cove Energy Mozambique Rovuma Offshore, Ltd, (8:5% PI) and Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area 1, Limited (20% PI). The Wanes-15% Pi is with Empressa National de Hidxocarbonetos E.P (ENH) the national oil company of Mozambique:, who are carried through the exploration phase.
