Bharati Shipyard, India's one of the largest private sector shipyard, today announced the launch of ‘Le Tourneau Super 116E’ Jack-up Rig, the first gen – next Jack-up Rig built in India.
‘Le Tourneau Super 116E’ is the hi-tech, premium and sophisticated Jack – up Rig built at the most modern shipyard in Dabhol, in Konkan region of Maharashtra, India.
P. C. Kapoor, Managing Director, Bharati Shipyard said: “For the first time in India, an ambitious project of this nature has been undertaken by a private shipyard and Bharati is proud to dedicate this rig to the nation.”
The rig can operate under adverse weather conditions and is capable of drilling in 350 feet water depth and drilling depth capability up to 30,000 ft with a massive variable drilling payload of 5100 Kips. Globally, there are only about 12 to 14 jack-up rigs of the same design which are operational.
It accommodates 110 persons and facilitate landing of SIKORSKY6IN helicopter on its heli-deck. ‘Le Tourneau Super 116E’ is capable of operating in High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) drilling with 15,000 PSI BOP system.
The Jack-up Rig is yet another milestone for Bharati Shipyard that adds to an array of sophisticated vessels for offshore industry which includes Off Shore Vessels, Multi- Purpose Support Vessels, Platform Supply Vessels and Anchor Handling Tug & Supply Vessels.
The Le Tourneau Super 116E is approved by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and India Register of Shipping (IRS).
