Birla Sun Life MF Announces Change in Designation of Key Personnel

With effect from 1 July 2010

Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund has announced that the designation of Mr. Mahesh Patil and Mr. Ajay Argal has been changed. The changes are effective from 1 July 2010.

Mr. Mahesh Patil is now, Head Equity - Domestic Assets, Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company (was formerly Co- Head Equity, BSLAMC).

Mr. Ajay Argal is now, Head Equity - Offshore, Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company (was formerly Co- Head Equity, BSLAMC).

Mr. Ajay Argal joined BSLAMC in December 2005. He manages both domestic and offshore funds for BSLAMC. Offshore funds managed by him are Excel India Fund and India Advantage Fund, which has received 4 star rating by Morning star. Domestic funds managed by him include BSL Top 100 Fund, BSL Long Term Advantage Fund and BSL Pure Value Fund.

He has over 17 years of experience. Prior to joining BSLAMC, he was with UTI AMC for more than 12 years. At UTI, Mr. Argal had a variety of experience including managing Offshore Funds, managing Domestic Equity Fund, managing Balanced Funds, Equity Research and Equity Dealing.

At UTI AMC, Mr. Argal was managing the Offshore Funds since 2001. This included the India Fund, a diversified fund investing across sectors, India IT Fund, India Pharma Fund and India Infrastructure Fund. Mr. Argal turned around the performance of India Fund during the period of hjs management. India IT Fund had done consistently well during the period of his management. The India IT Fund was ranked as the top performing among all technology funds worldwide in 2004 by S & P. India Pharma Fund was launched on the back of the good, consistent performance of India IT Fund in March 2005.

A B.Tech graduate from IIT Mumbai and a post graduate in Management from IIM Bangalore, he was placed among the top decile in IIM.

Mahesh Patil joined Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company in October 2005 and has since been managing most of the funds acquired from Alliance, post the later's acquisition by Birla Sun Life AMC in Sept, 2005. He has also successfully handled two NFOs launched by the fund house in the last three years.

Mahesh has over 20 years of work experience spanning consultancy, corporate and equities. He was primarily in equity research for more than six years with stints in Motilal Oswal Securities and Parag Parikh Financial Advisory services, both amongst the leading domestic brokerage houses. Starting his career as a computer engineer with CMC Ltd he followed with a brief stint at Tata Economic Consultancy Services. His last assignment was at Reliance Infocomm in Business Strategy/Corporate Finance where he has seen the company make its commercial launch to become one of India's leading telecom companies.

Mahesh is an Engineer and an MBA. He also holds the CFA charter from ICFAI, Hyderabad.
