Blockbuster weekend of thrilling live sports on ESPN STAR Sports

Catch the crowning of the BPL champion, top F1 action at the Spanish Grand Prix and HSBC Seven World Series to Thrill Fans in Asia

ESPN STAR Sports presents a thrilling weekend of LIVE sports to keep fans glued to their screens with back-to-back action that will see who will emerge champions of the Barclays Premier League, the first F1 leg in Europe in the Spanish Grand Prix and exciting rugby action at the HSBC Seven World Series, among others. 


All through 12 to 13 May, fans of football, rugby, motorsports, basketball, golf and baseball will be cheering on their favourite teams across ESPN STAR Sports’ multiple media platforms. In line with viewing preferences, fans can watch the best in sports on ESPN and STAR Sports’ television networks, on high-definition on ESPN HD, live online on the broadband network ESPN Player, and on Mobile ESPN for fans on the go.


Highlights of this stellar schedule of sports programming include: 

  • The 2011/2012 season boils down to the final day which will determine the champions, which teams will compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, and the fight for BPL survival for teams embroiled in relegation battle. But all eyes will be on the Manchester City vs QPR match where a win for the Blues will ensure victory and wrest away the title from their cross-town rivals, Manchester United, who will be playing away against Sunderland.


  • The much anticipated Spanish Grand Prix marks the start of the European season of the Formula One, flagging off in Barcelona at Circuit de Catalunya, a familiar but technically challenging circuit for the drivers and their aerodynamic cars. With his Bahrain win, Sebastien Vettel aims to extend his lead over McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and his Red Bull team-mate, Mark Webber.


  • Get ready for a bone-crunching weekend as England host the final round of the HSBC Seven World Series. Defending their title is New Zealand, who leads the pack ahead of Fiji, England, South Africa and Samoa who are expected to contest for the crown. In addition, rugby fans can tune into the titanic clash between Korea and Japan in the HSBC Asian 5 Nations Rugby.  


  • Golf fans can look forward to the tee-off between the Asia Pacific players at GS Caltex Maekyung Open. 


  • American sports fans can catch top baseball games in the Major League Baseball between Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels, as well as on ESPN HD, motorsport fans can also tune into the live coverage of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series


  • Basketball fans can catch the exciting ASEAN Basketball League between Thailand Slammers and Philippine Patriots, Bangkok Cobras and Saigon Heat, Singapore Slingers and Indonesia Warriors. 


  • There is powerful tennis to watch at the Mutua Madrid Open for the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament. Catch the world’s number one tennis player Novak Djokovic as he defends his title against 20-time Masters 1000 champion Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, who ranks the world’s third. 

The weekend will be full of thrilling matches and finals to whet the appetite for sports fans.
