The India Retail Forum, held at Renaissance, Powai, had kept the best for the last. International renowned speaker – Bob Urichuck, was the icing on the cake to the most enriching forum. What was misunderstood as a motivation session was more of a self realization, interactive and refreshing session.
Just when we thought that the mug of information was full, the audience realized that the base had a vacuum. Bob spoke about recognizing, rewarding and understanding the need of ‘me’ before ‘you’. The simple answer made the audience understand the difference between what the management thinks about employee loyalty and what actually makes the employees tick. The session was enjoyed by the likes of Bijou Kurien, Chairman of India Retail Forum 2011 and President and CE of Reliance Retail.
Bob Urichuck spoke about his famous book - Disciplines for Life that focuses on ‘you’ being the author of your future. With great attention, the retail stalwarts at the India Retail Forum 2011 understood a simple principle - If you don't put the things learnt into practice within 24 hrs then the learning is lost. The retailers were reminded skillfully that the great attributes of a leader, come out of their learning from failure. He preached the philosophy of standing up to failures and acknowledging mistakes out of the lost battles.
