Market continues to remain on a constant upward trend even in the late trades on the back of all round buying. Barring the FMCG index all the other BSE sectoral indices are in the green. BSE Realty and Pharma indices have led from the front followed by the Auto and the Banking stocks.
Firm cues from the European markets have further lifted sentiment on Dalal Street. The FTSE index in UK was up 1.7%, CAC index in France advanced 2% and DAX index in Germany gained 1.8%.
Among the 30 components of the Sensex 27 stocks are in the green and only HUL, BHEL and ITC are in negative terrain. Reliance Industries, Sterlite, SBI, M&M and HDFC are among the major gainers.
At 2:47 pm (IST), the BSE 30-share Sensex surged 235 points at 17,160 and NSE Nifty advanced 77 points at 5,110.
Mahindra & Mahindra sold 22,587 vehicles in November, compared with 11,515 registering a growth of 96% on a yoy basis.
Shares of M&M have gained by 3% to Rs1062. The scrip opened at Rs1079 it touched an intra-day high of Rs1079 and a low of Rs1036 and has recorded volumes of over 0.79mn shares on NSE.
