Oil explorer Cairn India has received important approvals for raising the production from its Mangala oilfield in Rajasthan by 25,000 barrels per day, reports said.
Mangala oilfield is the largest of the 25 oil and gas finds of Cairn in Barmer block in Thar desserts of Rajasthan. After this approval, the output from the field would rise to 150,000 bpd from 125,000 bpd at present.
After receiving approvals from partner Oil and Natural Gas Corp and third party independent valuers Knowledge Reservoir and Technip, and the Operating Committee, Cairn now needs a final approval from the block oversight panel, called the Management Committee, reports said. The committee is headed by Directorate General of Hydrocarbons and comprises of representative of oil ministry.
Apart from the Mangala oilfield, Cairn produces over 25,000 bpd from Bhagyam field, the second largest oilfield in the Rajasthan block.
