The harvest remains at a slow pace in western Bahia due to constant rains and the fact of croplands not being ready yet. According to technician Darci Capelesso, from Planejamento e Assistência Técnica Bahia (Plasteca), 15% have already been reaped. This pace is likely to remain slow in the next few days and be intensified within two weeks.
The yield has ranged so far by 48 bags per hectare, the same average for the region. I personally believe that the final yield will not reach 48, because some groves had rain-induced losses, Capelesso said. This year, croplands showed a high incidence of caterpillar and white mold, but all the focuses are already under control and should not interfere significantly in the ending result.
