India Infoline News Service/ 08:57 , Jul 19, 2012

Maruti has filed a police complaint against some of its workers, according to reports. The police has also arrested some of the rioting workers.

Labour troubles just refuse to go away at car market leader Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant in Haryana. The company had to shut down the plant at Manesar due to the eruption of fresh labour strife and violence among its staff.

Maruti Suzuki will keep its Manesar plant shut on Thursday as well, according to reports.

The company shut the plant on Wednesday evening after workers and management clashed violently, according to reports. A charred body has been found on the factory premises, reports added.

Maruti has filed a police complaint against some of its workers, according to reports. The police has also arrested some of the rioting workers.

Conflicting versions are emerging on the latest turmoil at Manesar.

Workers allege that the fight broke out after a supervisor made casteist remarks against one of them, but the management says some senior officials were beaten up by the workers.

At least 1,500 workers at still at the complex and that the situation is tense, Maruti Suzuki Workers' Union (MSWU) General Secretary Sarabjeet Singh has been quoted as saying.

It may be recalled that last year, Maruti's Manesar plant witnessed three separate labour strikes, causing a total production loss of about 83,000 units.
