A key measure of German investor confidence out today dropped to its lowest level this year, deepening worries that Germany's economy will face even more headwinds in the near term given the Euro zone debt crisis. The ZEW institute said today that its index fell to minus 25.5 points in August from minus 19.6 the month before. However, the ZEW noted that the indicator is well above the negative balance it reached amid the financial crisis in 2008, when it dipped at one point below the minus 60 points level.
