The cabinet, is reportedly expected to approve a proposal to open up the multi-brand retail sector in India, and would allow global chains to enter by next March.
According to reports, state governments will decide conditions on whether foreign chains are welcome or not.
The cabinet will also discuss a plan to authorize around 25-30 % sourcing from SMEs and intends to allow these chains to operate in large cities only, reports added.
