Haryana govt launches health insurance scheme for domestic workers

Under the scheme, each BPL family gets reimbursement of medical bills up to Rs. 30,000

The Haryana government has launched National Health Insurance Scheme under which insurance cover would be provided to vendors, waste pickers and domestic workers in the state. The registration work under the Scheme has already been started. To enroll members under the Scheme, a campaign would be started in the state from August 1 to October 31.

According to the Haryana government, the Scheme would be extended to those labourers who have worked under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme for 15 days and did not have a BPL (below poverty line) card. Under the scheme, each BPL family gets reimbursement of medical bills up to Rs. 30,000.
