According to the Working Lives report, by Aviva, medical insurance is one of the most desired workplace benefits for private sector employees in the UK.
The report published on 2nd May, suggests that a significant number of Britons would like to be offered private medical insurance as part of their employee benefits package. The report questioned more than 2,000 private sector workers and 210 employers about a number of issues relating to work and financial management.
When asked about the type of workplace benefits they would like to receive, 15% of respondents said they want the option of private medical insurance. This places health insurance among the top five desired benefits, alongside an annual bonus(36%), pension (16%), life insurance (14%) and non-financial benefits such subsidised gym memberships and creche facilities (14%). Many workers do not have the benefit of a corporate health insurance scheme, but there are plenty of affordable private policies to choose from if they desire.
Graham Boffey, managing director of corporate benefits, Aviva, said that employees want more relevant benefits that help them make the most of their money. He added, “Broader workplace savings and benefits are a cost-effective way of boosting employees' total packages beyond basic pay.”
