Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (HMCL), the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has further consolidated its leadership position in the country by once again reporting five-lakh-plus monthly sales to open the New Year 2012.
HMCL reported 5,20,272 unit sales for the month of January, a growth of 11.5 per cent over the corresponding month of previous year when it had sold 4,66,524 units.
The cumulative sales of the company in the period April’11–January’12, has now risen to 51,83,440 units, a 17.4% growth over the corresponding period (April’10–January’11) when the company had sold 44,14,537 units.
Commenting on the performance, Anil Dua, Senior Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp said, “We have made a good beginning to the new year with our January performance. We are pleased with the trend of five lakh-plus unit sales every month for the past six months, and we are confident of building further on these numbers.
We showcased our new range at the recently-concluded Auto Expo in Delhi. While many of these will be launched in the market in a phased manner, the scooter segment will be seeing immediate action with the launch of our 110cc masculine scooter Maestro soon.”
“Our brand building initiatives revolving around sports are going to be intensified with the ‘Hero Road to London’ hockey qualifiers for Olympics 2012 starting this month. Our ‘Hum Main Hai Hero’ campaign has also moved into its next phase with the ‘Billion Voices’ campaign on TV generating unprecedented response from fans, with thousands of videos already being uploaded onto our website. We plan to continue exciting and engaging our customers through all these initiatives,” he added.
Meanwhile, Hero Impulse continues to receive accolades from motorcycle experts and enthusiasts alike. The Impulse was yet again adjudged as the “Bike of the Year (up to 150c)”, this time at the Car India & Bike India Awards in Mumbai.
The company’s innovative communication and customer focus have once again been acknowledged, with its advertising campaigns for the scooter Pleasure (the ‘Question Mark’ campaign) and for the bike Splendor NXG (‘Yaari ki Gaadi’ Campaign) winning awards at the recently-held Effies Awards.
