Hind Aluminium Industries slumps ex-dividend

Hind Aluminium Industries plunged 4.23% to Rs 41.90 at 12:25 IST on BSE, after the stock turned ex-dividend today, 8 August 2011, for a final dividend of Rs 1.50 per share for the year ended March 2011.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 353.12 points, or 2.04%, to 16,952.75.

On BSE, 3,907 shares were traded in the counter as against an average daily volume of 26,769 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 43.75 and a low of Rs 41.50 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 71.60 on 30 September 2010 and a 52-week low of Rs 35.85 on 18 March 2011.

The small-cap stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 5 August 2011, rising 9.51% compared with the Sensex's 7.68% fall. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, falling 2.67% as against 4.97% decline in the Sensex.

The company has an equity capital of Rs 6.30 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

Before turning ex-dividend, the stock offered a dividend yield of 3.43% based on the closing price of Rs 43.75 on Friday, 5 August 2011.

Hind Aluminium Industries' net profit soared 69.7% to Rs 2.24 crore on 103% jump in net sales to Rs 135.14 crore in Q4 March 2011 over Q4 March 2010.

Hind Aluminium Industries is engaged in the manufacturing of aluminium wire rods and conductors, both of which are used in the transmission and distribution sector. The company operates through three segments: Aluminium Product, Minerals and Power.
