Back home, the latest batch of data points do not inspire much confidence, though car sales and the PMIs have recovered from 2011 lows. One really doesn’t know whether we have already seen the worst and things can only look up from here.

Homme Exceptionnel...New male fragrance from Montblanc

India Infoline News Service / 16:01 , Mar 10, 2010

Together they make for an uplifting, fresh harmony which blends seamlessly into the aromatic heart theme, where lavender meets sage

Homme Exceptionnel, the new male fragrance from Montblanc, reflects the sophistication of the brand, its traditional quality and craftsmanship, as well as embracing timeless style and elegance. An oriental woody scent, it has an intriguing twist.

The Fragrance: The fragrance opens with an invigorating accord of Sichuan pepper and mandarin. Like freshly ground pepper, only greener, the Sichuan pepper has a stimulating effect, giving a buzz to the nerves in the nose and both tempers and enhances the sweetness of mandarin. Together they make for an uplifting, fresh harmony which blends seamlessly into the aromatic heart theme, where lavender meets sage. Similar to a Fougère construction, but warmer, the heart has a timeless masculinity.

The twist comes in the scent’s underlying refrain. An aromatic accord introduces the signature of the fragrance – coffee and patchouli. Homme Exceptionnel uses both a coffee flavor, which has a milky, sensuous quality, lending a gourmand (edible) edge to the fragrance and a new, natural coffee note. This extract is astonishingly pure - bitter, yet sweet and smoky.

"Inspired by the taste and aroma of a high quality coffee, the challenge for the perfumer was how to incorporate the sophisticated coffee note in the fragrance, so that it drives the oriental character, but does not smell simply like a cup of coffee," explains Will Andrew, from the P&G Fragrance Creation Team.

"The resulting fragrance is engaging and beautifully crafted, with a distinctive character and timeless appeal – just like a sublime piece of music."

The Design: Timeless and reassuringly masculine, the Homme Exceptionnel bottle has clean lines. Look again and you’ll see one of the unmistakable features of the iconic Montblanc Meisterstueck 149 fountain pen with its 3-ring design has been used as inspiration. Around the neck of the bottle are three rings, echoing the three rings of gold or white precious metals that you’ll find around the caps of Meisterstueck pens - a symbol of style and craftsmanship.

The Embassador: The face of this captivating new fragrance for men is the Grammy Award-winning violin virtuoso, Joshua Bell.

Price Range: Montblanc Homme Exceptionnel is available across all leading stores in India under the following retail price:
