Honeywell celebrates 10-year alliance to manufacture pharmaceutical packaging

India Infoline News Service / 09:20 , Dec 01, 2011

Honeywell is an industry leader in producing advanced specialty films for pharmaceutical packaging with high barrier properties against water and oxygen.

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today the tenth anniversary of the company’s partnership with ACG-Pharmapack for converting Honeywell Aclar® film into high-value pharmaceutical packaging.
Under the partnership, Honeywell provides Aclar films to ACG, and ACG laminates those films with other plastics, including PVC and PETG, to create thermoformable pharmaceutical packaging such as blister packaging, for pharmaceutical companies in India.

“Honeywell’s technological expertise and innovation in barrier films, combined with ACG’s large customer base in India, have allowed us to serve a wide variety of customers with thermoformable packaging films,” said David Barker, global marketing manager for Honeywell’s Healthcare and Packaging business. “We value our relationship with ACG Worldwide and are pleased to announce this significant milestone.”

“The Honeywell-ACG partnership has contributed to the growth of ACG, and it has allowed us to introduce several new and innovative products for our customers,” said Michael Franklin, chief executive officer of ACG-Pharmapack. “We look forward to launching even more new products with Honeywell, and leveraging the combined strength of our two companies to market the Aclar range of films.”
Honeywell made the announcement at the CPhI India Convention on Pharmaceutical Ingredients, the largest and most comprehensive pharmaceutical industry event in South Asia.

Honeywell is an industry leader in producing advanced specialty films for pharmaceutical packaging with high barrier properties against water and oxygen. Honeywell Aclar film is a high moisture barrier thermoformable film that has been used to pack some of the world’s most successful oral solid dosage pharmaceuticals in both their innovator and generic forms.

Honeywell recently introduced its newest Aclar product, Aclar UltRrx 6000, which provides the highest moisture barrier of any film of its type. Aclar UltRx 6000 is effective at protecting moisture-sensitive medicines in all climates, even the hottest and most humid locations. This allows pharmaceutical companies to standardize their product packaging with one solution that will work in all regions of the world.

ACG offers a complete range of solid dosage equipment and consumables, including fluid bed processors, capsule fillers, tablet presses, blister packing and cartoning machines, case packers, tablet tooling and camera inspection systems. ACG’s strengths include a large highly skilled workforce, mass production facilities and several thousand installations worldwide, especially pharma capsule fillers.
