IGL’s plea against PNGRB to now be heard on May 8

India Infoline News Service/ 11:52 , May 04, 2012

In its Apr 9 order, PNGRB, apart from ordering cuts in the selling price of CNG and PNG and the regulation of network tariff, also said with retrospective effect that IGL would have to refund the excess amount charged from customers since 2008.

A bench of the Delhi High Court has deferred the hearing of Indraprastha Gas Limited’s (IGL) plea against the order of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to cut network tariffs and selling price on CNG and PNG to May 8, reports said.

In an earlier statement IGL said that it would also file an application in the Appellate Tribunal. "The order has various facets some of which will be challenged before the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity as well. There are various issues in the order of the Board which needs clarification, on which IGL will have to await the response of PNGRB before the court during the next hearing," said the company’s Apr 11, 2012.

In its Apr 9 order, PNGRB, apart from ordering cuts in the selling price of CNG and PNG and the regulation of network tariff, also said with retrospective effect that IGL would have to refund the excess amount charged from customers since 2008.

However, in its petition, IGL alleged that PNGRB is not entitled to regulate the price of gas sold by the company and the variables taken into account by the board to calculate the network tariff are misleading.
