IIMK announces IIMK HR Summit 2012

According to Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director IIM Kozhikode, “Women make the best managers.

The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) proudly announces the commencement of ‘IIMK HR Summit 2012’. 


The main theme of the HR Summit 3-4 February 2012 is ‘Do Women Make Better HR Managers?’ This summit will provide a platform where a unique blend of HR thought leaders from industry would participate and discuss on the following sub themes:


1. Global trends in growth and challenges of Women HR leaders 

2. Gender Stereotyping in HR 

3. The Road Map to Success in HR: Does Gender Matter?


S. Gopalakrishnan, Co-Founder and Executive Co-Chairman, Infosys, is the Chief Guest for the summit.  


Spanned across two days, the summit will give industry participants, academicians and students, the opportunity to listen to eminent speakers heading HR domain of the corporate India, sharing their perspectives on the theme and sub-themes.

According to Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director IIM Kozhikode, “Women make the best managers. In India, especially, there is a dilemma that the woman professional faces - of work-life balance, in a life that gets more demanding during certain years. Productivity is not just a function of a few years of less work. 


This is a marathon. The huge life experiences of women can be converted into value in the top management.” He says “The age of the whole brain will set right some of the asymmetries in our cortical hemispheres. 


In this, women who bring those soft cortical skills and big-picture perception of life to the job will triumph over lopsidedly analytical and data distracted left-brainers.” IIMK can boast of 35% women admission to its flagship Post Graduate Programme, which is a record by any Business School in the country. 


Prof. Manoranjan Dhal (OB&HR Area, IIMK) says “While the industry keeps debating about the competency, emotional quotient, gender diversity, and stereotyping, the number of HR professionals is varying in terms of roles, hierarchy and sectors.
