India's GSM subscriber base grew by 2.53% in January from the previous month with the addition of 13.71mn new mobile phone users.
According to data released by the COAI, the total number of GSM subscribers in the country crossed 556.68mn as against 542.97mn in December.
Bharti Airtel alone saw addition of over 3.3mn new users.
Bharti Airtel now has a market share of 27.99%, with 156mn subscribers.
Vodafone added 3.1mn new subscribers in January, taking its total base of 127.36mn subscribers. Idea Cellular followed up with an addition of 2.51mn new subscribers, taking its total base to 84.29mn.
BSNL added 2.2mn new subscribers last month, to reach a total subscribers base of 83.6mn. Uninor added 1.8mn new users in January to have a total of 20.3mn subscribers.
