Private sector air carrier Jet Airways (India) soared 5.77% to Rs 468.30 on reports the company is looking to hire 25-30 Indian pilots for its proposed expansion of operations. The stock topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group.
South India based cement maker India Cements spurted 5.25% to Rs 112.30. The stock was the second biggest gainer in 'A' group.
EIH, which runs the Oberoi chain of hotels, jumped 4.52% to Rs 138.60 on reports cigarette maker ITC is open to raising its stake in the company after media reported that investor Analjit Singh plans to buy another 17% in EIH. The stock was the third biggest gainer in BSE's 'A' group.
Zinc and lead producer Hindustan Zinc climbed 3.83% to Rs 1,167. Recently, a foreign broker rated the stock as 'buy' with a 12-month price estimate of Rs 1,529. Hindustan Zinc was the fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group.
Drug maker Lupin rose 3.27% to Rs 1,373.65. The stock was the fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group.
