KPB Hinduja College of Commerce has won yet another recognition by winning the ‘Best College’ award in the urban area for the academic year 2010-2011, from the University of Mumbai. The criteria of selection included the number of scholarships offered, number of University affiliated courses and Ph D guides, quality and quantity of infrastructure such as computer labs, Internet and wi-fi connectivity, research papers published and participation in national and international academic conferences, and social responsibility.
Commenting on this accolade, Ashok P Hinduja, Chairman, Hinduja Group (India) & Managing Trustee, KBP Hinduja College of Commerce said, “It is indeed a matter of gratification for all of us at the Hinduja, more so since this recognition comes soon after Hinduja Hospital was awarded ‘Best Multi Specialty Hospital – Metro’ pan India. We will continue our endeavours to support institutions in the areas of education and healthcare to make them truly world class.”
While presenting the award to the College at a function at the Sir Pherozeshah Mehta Auditorium Hall at the Kalina Campus, University of Mumbai Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rajan Welukar said, “We want to encourage ‘Quality and Diversity’ in our institutions, part of which includes grooming students and teaching faculty for achieving excellent academic results.” And he noted: “A plethora of programmes are conducted by Hinduja College in the interest of their students.”
As explained by Dr. Tukaram Shiware, Principal, KBP Hinduja College of Commerce, “Ours is the only college that conducts M Phil in Commerce, MA in Mass Communications and Journalism, MA in Electronic Media, MA in Public Relations, and a B Com and B CA dual degree besides certificate courses in International Financial Reporting and Foundation in Financial Markets.”
Hinduja College has modern infrastructure with 32 air-conditioned classrooms along with LCD projectors, three state-of-art computer laboratories and a library with a large number of national and international journals. Hinduja College has been re-accredited with ‘A’ grade by N.A.A.C. and its future plans include Autonomous status and investment in research and publication of research papers to achieve excellence.
