Only days after Lufthansa became the first airline to bring the all new Boeing B747-8 to India, the German airline today officially inaugurated its brand new lounge at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Offering unparalleled comfort and style to Lufthansa guests, this first lounge in Asia designed according to the airline’s new global design concept marks a major new investment benefiting passengers departing from India.
Its luxurious environment now invites to relax and unwind. The generously spaced Lufthansa Lounge spreads across 3,767 square feet and seats 131 travellers. It is conveniently situated near the boarding gates in the main atrium of Terminal 3.
“We continue to make best possible use of India’s new Gateway to the world at Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3 and we continue to invest for our guests travelling to and from India.
Our recent upgrade program for India will now provide our passengers from Delhi with the first lounge in Asia featuring our new global design,” says Axel Hilgers, South Asia Director for Lufthansa.
“Delhi is a key gateway for Lufthansa in India. We have introduced our fleet’s latest aircraft here last week with the B747-8, along with Lufthansa’s new Business Class on board. This additional investment re-affirms our commitment to offer Lufthansa’s best and latest worldwide products to Indian passengers.”
Lufthansa’s new lounge concept includes enhanced design elements like poster walls and comforting accessories. The walls are designed with wing-view motives to give guests a feeling of sitting inside an aircraft. Specially manufactured designer furniture includes ergonomically designed lounging chairs in an exclusive area.
On offer are complimentary hot and cold dishes and snacks and a beverage offer ranging from spirits and wines to fresh juices. Workstations and Wi-Fi internet create a comfortable work environment for those who want to catch up with their business before take-off.
The Lufthansa Lounge in Delhi is for exclusive use by First and Business class ticket holders of Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines, HON, Senator and Frequent Traveller cardholders from the Miles & More programme. Lufthansa now exclusively operates two lounges in India. A Lufthansa Lounge was introduced at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai in 2009.
Lufthansa currently operates about 60 lounges worldwide with a total floor space of over 300,000 square feet. And with access to the more than 900 lounges operated by Star Alliance and cooperation partners, Lufthansa customers can take advantage of one of the largest lounge networks in the world.
