The much awaited MARG Chennai Marathon 2010 saw participation from millions of proud Chennaiites enthusiastically living up to the indomitable spirit of the city. Ms. Kanimozhi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament; Mohideen Khan, Hon’ble Minister for Environment, sports & Youth Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu; Dr. Poongothai Aladi Aruna, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, Government of Tamil Nadu; Mr. M. Subramaniam, Hon’ble Mayor of Chennai; Actors Arya, Priyamani and Sneha; Mr. GRK Reddy, Chairman & Managing Director, MARG Group; Fr. Gasper Raj, Founder, Tamil Maiyam and several other who’s who of the city were present on the occasion.
MARG Ltd. is the presenting sponsor of MARG Chennai Marathon 2010. Organised by Tamil Maiyam in aid of GiveLife Charity, this year’s marathon has been aptly themed ‘My City! My Pride!’. GiveLife Charity is an organisation which has stepped forward for the upliftment of the underprivileged children.
GiveLife, a publicly owned and publicly audited charity focuses on holistic education and development of the underprivileged children. They provide to deserving poor children tuition fee, note books, nutrition support; motivational training, self esteem, personality development, health and hygiene, practical English, basic computer skills, art, regular counselling and interaction with children; as well as career guidance, entrepreneurial assistance and job seeking assistance.
Prizes for MARG Chennai Marathon 2010 included more than Rs. 17 lakhs of cash, in addition to medals and certificates, in both men and women category. People from all walks of life across cities converged in Chennai to be a part of this mammoth run. Certificates were provided to all the registered participants.
