Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 28.02 points, or 0.16%, to 17,547.28

The stock hit a high of Rs 73.90 and a low of Rs 73.10 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 123.70 on 5 June 2009 and a 52-week low of Rs 63.40 on 23 March 2009.
The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 18 March 2010, falling 2.94% compared with the Sensex's 7.30% rise. It also underperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 0.55% as against rise of 4.78% in the Sensex.
The mid-cap state-run telecom service provider has an equity capital of Rs 630 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.
MTNL reported a net loss of Rs 894.95 crore in Q3 December 2009 compared with a net profit of Rs 53.10 crore in Q3 December 2008. Sales fell 18.8% to Rs 902.26 crore in Q3 December 2009 over Q3 December 2008.
MTNL provides basic phone, internet and cellular mobile telephony services in Delhi and Mumbai. Government of India holds 56.25% stake in the company (end December 2009).
