Monsoon may exceed forecast: IMD

Rainfall may be as much as 103% of the 50-year average as monsoon may begin its retreat from northwest India only from the third week of this month

The Monsoon may exceed a previous forecast as the withdrawal of the rain-bearing clouds is delayed, the state-run forecaster said.  The June-September rainy season normally begins to retreat from the northwestern parts of the country starting Sept. 1.

Rainfall may be as much as 103% of the 50-year average as monsoon may begin its retreat from northwest India only from the third week of this month, IMD official said.
