India's turmeric futures extended the gains for the third consecutive sessions lead by short covering amid firm spot market demand. Turmeric arrivals in the Nizamabad mandi were steady at 500 bags and prices surged by Rs 300 to Rs 13,500 per 100 kg. The Erode mandi was closed today.
In today's early sessions, NCDEX turmeric for the September delivery spurted by Rs 254 to the session high of Rs 12568 per 100 kg. The counter is currently trading higher at Rs 12444 and the open interest dipped 2.14 percent to 6,530 tonnes, indicating short covering. Volume traded as of now stood at 1,215 tonnes. September futures spurted around RS 810 or 7 percent in the last three consecutive sessions.
