The Postal Department of Kerala and BSNL Infrastructure will introduce a mobile remittance scheme soon, Chief Postmaster General (Kerala Circle) Sobha Koshy said.
In Phase-I, the scheme will be implemented in Kerala, Bihar, New Delhi and Punjab, Ms Koshy said after releasing a special postal cover in relation with the ruby jubilee celebrations of Kottayam Press Club.
In Kerala, the scheme will be implemented in 30 post offices in Idukki, Aluva and Pathanamthitta. According to the scheme, a person can transfer money'> money through the post office which will send a message to the other post office about the amount to be given to the other person.
Ms Koshy said the process of computerising the entire postal network in the country, numbering 1.55 lakh post offices, was going on. Out of 1,507 post offices, 1,479 post offices are computerized in Kerala.
