Wipro Consumer Care relaunches Aramusk....


Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting (WCCLG), the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and Lighting division of Wipro, has re-launched Aramusk. The Union Minister for Commerce, Industry and Textiles,  Anand Sharma has said that with the recent policy initiatives and arrival of brands like Zara, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, new flavours will be added to the Indian luxury market which will not only give consumers a better choice but also throw open a plethora of opportunities for our young designers for better industry placement in top notch international MNCs. Speaking as the Guest of Honour at the Convocation of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), at Rae Bareli today, Sharma exhorted the young fashion designers to strive for gaining credibility for Indian brands made by Indian people. The UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi was the Chief Guest at Convocation Ceremony and gave away the degrees to 59 new graduates. This was second batch passing out of the institute. She also laid the foundation of the New Building for NIFT Rae Bareli. 


Sharma said that the government is committed to invest in the institution building and invest in the young generation. He expressed hope that the young designers will enrich the traditional Indian textiles and will work in close contact with the traditional artisans. “New technology has created new stresses for the traditional artisans, there is need to create new opportunities for them,” said Sharma. Read more…


Tablets and Smartphones are the latest shopping tools: InMobi survey


InMobi, the world’s largest independent mobile ad network, in a latest survey conducted on mobile connected devices and its usage patterns in India, revealed that connected devices like tablets and Smartphone have taken over conventional fixed devices like desktops and laptops. InMobi partnered with Mobext, the mobile marketing network of Havas Digital, to conduct a study to better understand how consumers are using mobile connected devices in India, as mobile internet usage has surpassed desktop internet usage earlier this year.

According to the InMobi survey, covering more than 2,800 respondents across the country, Smartphone still remain the most preferred for entertainment and communication, while tablets are soon catching up. In what could be termed as technology adoption, the survey revealed that 54% of Indian desktop users & 56% Smartphone users are likely to purchase a tablet in next six months.

Phalgun Raju, InMobi’s Regional Director and General Manager for India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, indicated “The average Indian spends more time on their mobile device than on desktops or laptops. With the significant growth in tablet adoption, we see that tablets are used more frequently for a wider variety of activities compared to Smartphone, such as shopping, business communications and banking.” Read more…

McDonald's same-store sales drops


McDonald's Corp.'s reported that  same-store sales drops than expected 1.8% in October due to the continuous economy slowdown there is a lesser demand.


Don Thompson, President and Chief Executive was quoted as saying, "Though October's sales results reflect the pervasive challenges of today's global marketplace, I am confident that our strategies and the adjustments we are making in response to the current business headwinds will build sales momentum and drive sustained, profitable growth."


According to reports, the company has been able to boost guest traffic and sales faster than most of its competitors with its expanding global operations and increasingly diverse menu, such as higher-margin products like blended-ice drinks. But austerity measures in Europe have contributed to slower global same-store sales growth in recent months.


Other fast food giants Burger King Worldwide Inc. (BKW) and Wendy's Co. (WEN) are revamping their menus and updating their marketing campaigns, hoping to better compete with the fast-food giant, reports added.


Videogame sales fall 25% in October


Retail sales of videogame software in the U.S reportedly drops l by 25% in October compared to the same month last year.


According to reports, hardware sales plunged by 37% during the period. Take-Two Interactive had the top-selling game with "NBA 2K13," while "Resident Evil 6" from Capcom took the number two slot. Nintendo's NTDOY +0.19% new versions of "Pokemon" Black and White were also big sellers, as was "Dishonored" from Bethesda Softworks.
