The Indian Rupee closed with steady gains today, rising in tune with the rise in the local equity markets. The rupee closed up 21 paise at 49.21 against the US dollar today, after hitting a high of 49.13 earlier in the day. The local markets trimmed gains after striking fresh intraday highs in late trade though the barometer index, BSE Sensex, was provisionally up 11.06 points or 0.06%, off 89.89 points from the day's high and up 93.86 points from the day's low. In global currencies market, the US dollar is quoting at 1.3260 against the Euro right now, after having hit a seven-week low above1.3300 last week.
