S S Mundra has assumed charge as Executive Director of Union Bank of India today. Born on 18th July, 1954, Mundra is a Post Graduate in Commerce from the University of Pune and is also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.
In his Banking career, in Bank of Baroda, spanning of over three decades, he held various positions across the country as well as overseas. His last posting was as Chief Executive overseeing Bank’s European Operations.
Early in his career, he had been Branch Manager at various branches of the Bank as also in charge of Credit Functions of various Regional/Zonal offices of the bank. During the years 1994-1997 he was posted at Bank’s subsidiary at Uganda.
Mundra had been in Bank’s Treasury function from the year 2001 to 2005 and again in the year 2007. During the stint, he has worked in various Treasury functions including in charge of Money Market Operations, Heading the Treasury Back Office, Heading the Treasury Front Office and finally rising to the post of General Manager of entire Treasury Operations.
Some of the Bank’s new initiatives viz. “SME Loan Factory”, “Gen- Next Branch” etc. were launched in the Zone during his time which later developed as a robust business model for the bank.
He has recently been nominated as a Nominee Director of Govt. of India on the Board of India Infrastructure Finance Company (UK) Limited (IIFCL), London.
Mundra is an avid reader and his reading interests range from Leadership literature, banking to Yoga and Philosophy.
