Digital technology leader, Samsung India and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) felicitated the medal winners of the recently concluded London 2012 Olympic Games at a glittering ceremony held in the Capital. Returning with India’s largest Olympic medal haul, the Indian Contingent members were present in their full Olympic glory as the medal winners were conferred with cash awards for their outstanding performances.
Prior to the departure of the Indian team, Samsung had declared the ‘Most Valued Performance’ Awards for medal winners at the London 2012 Olympic Games entailing cash awards of Rs. 20 Lacs for the Gold Medal Winners, Rs.15 lacs for Silver medal winners and Rs.10 lacs for Bronze medal winners. The medal winners were handed over their cheques by B. D. Park, President & CEO, South West Asia HQ, Samsung Electronics along with Raja Randhir Singh, Secretary General of the IOA and Member, International Olympic Committee and V K Malhotra, Acting President of the IOA.
The London 2012 Olympic Games have been the most successful for India in the history of its participation at the Olympic Games, with the country winning six medals in different sporting categories. The athletes who have brought back Olympic glory for the country include:
Sushil Kumar (Silver medal-66kg Freestyle Wrestling)
Vijay Kumar (Silver medal-25m Rapid Fire Pistol)
Gagan Narang (Bronze medal-10m Air Rifle); he is Samsung Olympic Ratna
MC Mary Kom (Bronze medal-51kg Boxing); she is a Samsung Olympic Ratna
Yogeshwar Dutt (Bronze medal-60kg Freestyle Wrestling)
Saina Nehwal (Bronze medal-Badminton Singles)
