The Board of Directors of Tata Consultancy Services,  a leading IT services, business solutions and outsourcing company announces that it has appointed O. P. Bhatt, former Chairman of SBI Group and Cyrus Mistry, Deputy Chairman of Tata Sons to the Board of Directors of the Company with effect from April 2, 2012.

With the addition of these two directors, the total Board strength of the Company increases to fourteen directors which include seven independent directors, including Mr. O. P. Bhatt, the most recent addition.

Bhatt is a National Science Talent Scholar (comparable to a Presidential Scholar in the US) with a graduate degree in Physics and a post graduate degree in English Literature (Gold Medal). His last assignment from July 1, 2006 till March 31, 2011 was as Chairman, State Bank Group which includes State Bank of India, India’s largest commercial bank, five associate banks in India and five banks overseas, SBI Life, the country’s largest private life insurer, SBI Capital Markets, its leading investment bank, SBI Fund Management and other subsidiaries spanning diverse activities, from general insurance to custodial services. He also, served as Chairman of Indian Bank’s Association, the apex body of Indian banks. He also served as India’s economic diplomacy as government’s nominee on India-US CEO Forum; Indo-French CEO Forum and Indo Russia CEO Forum, forging links with a cross section of world’s business leaders.

Mistry is a graduate of Civil Engineering from Imperial College, UK and has a M.Sc. in Management from London Business School. He joined the Board of Shapoorji Pallonji & Company Limited as Director in 1991 and was appointed the Managing Director, Shapoorji Pallonji Group, in 1994. He joined the Board of Tata Sons Limited in 2006 and was appointed Deputy Chairman in November 2011. He is also Director of Tata Industries Limited, Tata Power Company Limited and Tata Teleservices Limited.
