The Yellow spice futures swelled on short covering at lower levels. The NCDEX turmeric for the May delivery gained nearly 3% or Rs 104 to the session high of Rs 3726 per quintal. The open interest dipped 5.25% to 24,665 tonnes, indicating short covering and the volume traded as of now stood at 13,570 tonnes against 6,700 tonnes traded on last day. According to market sources, turmeric price in the Nizamabad mandi stood at Rs 3,500 per quintal. The arrivals in the Nizamabad mandi stood at 8,000 bags. Turmeric price quoted in the Erode mandi at Rs 3,600-4,200 per quintal. The arrivals in the Erode mandi stood at 15,000 bags. The Salem variety was trading at Rs 4,000 per quintal.
