i1 Super Series, the exciting new motorsport league set to commence in January 2012, has got its fifth city franchise in Chennai with K Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, Chairman, Ind-Barath Power Infra announced as the owner of the franchise, Chennai Super Sonics. Earlier franchise owners include leading Tollywood actor Nagarjuna for Hyderabad, Arjun Baljee and Rudra Dalmia for Bangalore, Arindam Chaudhuri for Delhi and Bollywood Superstar Shahrukh Khan for Mumbai.
K Raghu Ramakrishna is the owner of Ind-Barath Power Infra Private Ltd., an infrastructure development company focused on establishing power projects that use a wide variety of fuels and serve a host of different customers across India. The highly anticipated i1 Super Series, charted on the popular city based franchisee format, will have 9 teams representing 9 different cities from across the country with each team having a driver of Indian origin and an International driver per car marking a new dimension to Indian Motorsports.
Announcing the partnership, Darshan M, CEO, i1 Super Series, said, "I am very pleased to announce that we have finalised on our team owner for the Chennai for the upcoming i1 Super Series to take place in January, 2012.
