EdCast announces Rs. 65,00,000 prize money for Indian teachers

Tata Trusts has partnered with EdCast to announce the launch of the Global Educator Teach-A-Thon. A global challenge; this platform is open to all educators in India as well.

Teachers are that section of society that contributes to nation-building.  A new challenge, the Global Educator Teach-A-Thon, presents an opportunity for educators in India to demonstrate their knowledge and expertise in the field of education in India. 
 
Tata Trusts has partnered with EdCast to announce the launch of the Global Educator Teach-A-Thon. A global challenge; this platform is open to all educators in India as well.
 
Teachers are invited to demonstrate their teaching acumen by recording and uploading short video lessons in English of less than 10 minutes, from their smartphone. 
 
The educator(s) who garner the highest user engagement will win the grand prize of INR 65 lac.
 
And this has the support of Ratan Tata himself.
 
Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Trusts, said “With a strong belief that education should know no boundaries, we are pleased to partner with EdCast on this first ever Global Educator Teach-A-Thon competition. Education is a fundamental right and a catalyst for socio-economic wellbeing. We need to find newer and innovative means to deliver education to all sections of our communities." 
 
We’re challenging the status quo when it comes to the way we share and retain knowledge,” says Karl Mehta, CEO of EdCast. “Though the competition is open to teachers all over the world, Im hoping that India, being the land of Aryabhatta and Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, will surely turn up some good entries. The contest is open for a year, .Each month, we will select one finalist,   who will compete for the grand prize in the 12th month, in a global Teach-A-Thon.”
 
According to a 2014 report by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, there are 94,77,970 educators in India out of which 29,94,310 teach at the senior secondary and higher education level. The Global Educator Teach-A-Thon challenge presents an opportunity for educators in India to demonstrate their knowledge and expertise in the field of education in India.
