Trump’s verbal war with N Korea tanks global markets

Market experts believe that Indian market is likely to remain under pressure and any short rally would be used for getting out of the market by investors.

Indian share market is showing a downward trend, declining for the fourth consecutive trading session on Thursday as investors were worried about the geopolitical tensions and weak corporate earnings. Nifty has lost around 400 points while Sensex has lost around 1,400 points from their all-time high level. A total of around Rs 5 lakh crore wealth has eroded from the markets in this week so far. India VIX, which measures volatility in the markets,  gained around 26% in the month of August till date.
 
Global market indices have been witnessing record fall on the back of increased geopolitical concerns between US and North Korea. Trump’s verbal war with North Korea led the Dow Jones to decline by over 200 points to close at 21,844 level. Volatility index in US market was up dramatically by 44.37% at 16.04 level.
 
"North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States, ...they will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen", these were the words by US President Donald Trump while addressing the press at his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
 
Among Asia-Pacific markets, South Korea's benchmark KOSPI index fell by 1.69%, Nikkei was down by 0.05%, while Shanghai Composite index sheds 1.29%.
 
Market experts believe that Indian market is likely to remain under pressure and any short rally would be used for getting out of the market by investors. Individual stocks are likely to continue their correction mode and investors should remain cautious to avoid big risks, opine experts.
