Impose high tax on junk food, ban junk food ads: FSSAI panel suggests
 
In a bid to reduce the consumption of fat and other unhealthy junk foods among children and the larger population, an expert panel formed by food regulator FSSAI recommended the imposition of additional tax or excise tax on highly processed food and sugar-laced beverages along with a ban on junk food advertisements on children’s channels or during kid’s shows on TV.
