Govt identifies 44 economic corridors for devp under Bharatmala

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has identified 44 Economic Corridors of an aggregate length of 26,200 for development or improvement under Bharatmala Pariyojana, said the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan.

The Ministry had conducted a comprehensive and scientific study of traffic flow across the country and these corridors carry a high volume of traffic. Under the Phase–I of Bharatmala Pariyojana, it is proposed to develop 9,000 km of Economic Corridors.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded or is in the process of awarding 30 consultancy packages for the preparation of DPR of about 9,300 km roads included in Bharatmala Pariyojana comprising Economic Corridors, Inter Corridor, Feeder Routes, International Connectivity and Coastal Roads, added the Minister.
